Volvo is a car-making company based in the city of Göteborg (Sweden). From 1999 to 2010 the company was owned by US-based Ford, and in 2010 it was sold out to Chinese automobile corporation Geely.

Self-driving option by Volvo

In August 2016, Volvo released the launch of strategic cooperation with network transport company Uber in the field of developing a self-driving car by 2021. The companies agreed to invest some USD300 mln in the project and started the implementation by making autonomous Volvo XC90 available for taxi ordering in the downtown of Pittsburgh starting early fall 2016.
