Mainstream Renewable Power is the leader of South African renewable energy market with its project portfolio of almost 5 GW of installed capacities.
The alternative energy market started growing exponentially in South Africa since the government had initiated the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Programme – REIPPP. Mainstream Renewable Power company has implemented some 848 MW of wind and solar projects starting that moment, more than any other developer.
Mainstream prefers consortium work and has huge experience of cooperation with Absa Capital, Globeleq, Thebe Investment Company and Siemens Energy South Africa.
In 2013 Mainstream Renewable Power together with private equity company Actis founded in Chile Aela Energía company which initial plans were to provide clean energy to about 131 thou of local householdings.
