Jul 7, 2019 – South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor is considering an option of selling its Kona electric car in Russia, the final decision will be made in the next few months, news agency RIA Novosti quoted Managing Director for CIS Alexei Kalitsev.
“We are examining the market. We consider the option of launching Kona in Russia. If we decide to initiate the sales, we will of course deliver both the combustion engine and the electric versions,” he said.
Hyundai Kona is a compact crossover released in June 2018.
“The final decision will be made in the next few months. This is going to be the second niche story (after Hyundai I30N). In Europe and the U.S. the price is subsidized by the government, but here in Russia we can see no activity in these terms, besides the Moscow city government. That is why we are examining the possibility.”
