Water threament in Ghana
The republic of Ghana is one of numerous African countries which experience a strong lack of clean fresh water. The country’s population keeps on growing so the government recognized water treatment and disinfection projects among the top national priorities under the Economic Recovery Program launched in 1980s, as well as the creation of water infrastructure able to deliver clean water to distant towns and villages.
The Greater Accra, a suburban district of the country’s capital, hosts a large sea water desalination plant named Accra constructed and operated by Spanish firm Abengoa.
