Francisco Pizarro — solar power plant (PV) — 590 MW, Spain, 2022

Jun 6, 2019 – The Francisco Pizarro project, with an installed capacity of 590 MW, has been submitted to Spain’s Ministry for the Ecological Transition for approval.

The Francisco Pizarro PV solar power plant with an installed capacity of 590 MW will be constructed in Caceres’ municipal areas of Torrecillas de la Tiesa and Aldeacentenera in Spain’s Extremadura autonomous community.

The facility with a total investment of 300 mln euros will cover 1,300 hectares to become Europe’s largest photovoltaic solar plant.

In June 2019, the project’s operator, Spanish utility Iberdrola, submitted the project for consideration of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition. The plant is to be commissioned in 2022
