Aela Energia company was founded in June 2013 in order to implement the plan to install 600 MW of solar and wind facilities in Chile till 2017. The company is owned by direct investment fund Actis specializing in emerging markets (60%) and global renewable energy project developer Mainstream Renewable Power (40%).
The project portfolio that makes up 600 MW of renewable energy facilities is strategically distributed between Arica and Puerto Montt and has been developed by Mainstream. The first project is the Aela Cuel wind farm with a capacity of 33 MW, located in the Biobio Region, south of Chile, which began commercial operation in February 2014.
Aela holds an advantageous position to become the leading independent producer of renewable energy in Chile.
